The Board

Following on from the 2016 Wood Review, the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 introduced a new duty to be placed on three agencies, to make arrangements for  safeguarding and promoting the  welfare of children in the area. The agencies are:

  • Local Authorities
  • The Chief Constable
  • The Clinical Commissioning Groups

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have come together as a single Safeguarding Board to seek assurance that the system that protects children, especially the most vulnerable, is effective.
